Product Description

MagnaFlow is ColorCote’s most innovative corrosion resistant pre-painted metal roofing product, with magnesium added technology. Magnesium allows the zinc/aluminum alloy-coated steel substrate to ‘heal itself’ along any cut or exposed edges of the material, which prevents premature corrosion.

These products can be supplied to market by either:

1.             Roofing Industries New Zealand

2.             Dimond Roofing

Installation and Maintenance

Installation: Do not use MagnaFlow for a pitch of less than 3 degrees (8 degrees for corrugated profiles) to avoid ponding and premature degradation of the coating system.

Care must be taken when installing MagnaFlow in combination with or in close proximity to these materials:

  • Copper and Brass—Avoid contact with, and water runoff from, copper and brass onto MagnaFlow products as they will cause excessive corrosion.

  • Non-galvanised steel, copper, brass, lead, stainless steel or monel metal—Do not use in direct contact with MagnaFlow.

  • Lead flashings—Do not use these in contact with MagnaFlow. Soft-edge aluminium or notching of flashings are recommended alternatives.

  • Wood—Tanalised timber contains copper, and therefore must not come into contact with MagnaFlow. ColorCote recommends PVC tape or similar barrier between materials to avoid corrosion.

Maintenance: The service life is extended by regular washing. A mechanical wash every six months is recommended, more often if contaminants build up. At these times inspect for damage and failing fasteners, and repair these.

Class 4 coated screws will give the best service life with ColorCote MagnaFlow products.
